Started from Solomons, MD and headed northward for our 51 mile day to Annapolis. The Chesapeake Bay was calm with overcast skies. Ideal for cruising.
As we approached Annapolis, I was not sure what I was seeing from a distance. So many sailboats in the area, it must be a sailing race.
We found out later there is a huge race this weekend from Annapolis to Providence, RI. There must have been 40- 50 sailboats to dodge.
There were other boats in the harbor enjoying a sail also.
Made it to our marina. Predominantly sailboats here.
Our boat at her new home for a year. We will cruise the Chesapeake Bay for the year while we wait for Canada to open up to Americans and then continue cruising the American Great Loop next year.
Rode our bikes into Annapolis this evening. Enjoyed the historical homes and seeing the Naval Academy Midshipmen in town with the Naval Academy two blocks away.
Very happy to have finished our first goal…cruising from Stuart, FL to Annapolis, MD. We took 26 days with 6 state crossings. FL, GA, SC, NC, VA and into MD.
Lots of heart stopping moments with bridge openings, dockings, locks, currents, tides, waves, winds, crab traps, shallow water… Met many wonderful boaters. Now it’s time to say farewell to the blog until we resume the loop. Thank you for following. So grateful in every way.
Congrats on making it to Annapolis! Great spot to dock for awhile.
Fun seeing the midshipmen and all the sailboat activity!!😃
Congrats! Super place to settle for awhile.
It is a happening place where there are sailboats, midshipmen, good restaurants and good boating destinations. A nice place for us to explore. Thank you.
What an accomplishment! Glad you made it to the ships new home safely and enjoyed all the wonderful sites and people along the way. It does look beautiful there what an adventure! You guys are awesome and are taking the retirement life very different from most. What a blessing glad you’re having so much fun!!!

26 days and reached destination in tact.
Yes, there were a few close calls and had HIS blessing to be safe. Congrats to y’all.
Yes. Very happy and thankful. It was a great trip…and just the start of more sea adventures in the future.
Wahoo what an adventure! Hope John and I can make it to Annapolis since we weren’t able to join y’all from Norfolk to there but so glad that John had the opportunity to at least see y’all on your stop here look forward to the continued trip next year

Looking forward to following your journey!
What a fun trip!
And those midshipmen in their snappy whites
looking good.
We just got back last month from a trip to Boston, Plymouth and Cape Cod Including a ferry from Hyannis to Nantucket Island.
Do any of your future stops include those areas?
Safe travels.

Thanks, Ron. It has been quite the adventure with currents, tides, shallow water, bridges, weather, but the historic coastal towns, friendly folks, helpful boating community are fantastic! I love history and this has been quite the new perspective on seeing our beautiful country by water.
