Made it to Annapolis! Friday, June 4, 2021

Started from Solomons, MD and headed northward for our 51 mile day to Annapolis. The Chesapeake Bay was calm with overcast skies. Ideal for cruising.

As we approached Annapolis, I was not sure what I was seeing from a distance. So many sailboats in the area, it must be a sailing race.

We found out later there is a huge race this weekend from Annapolis to Providence, RI. There must have been 40- 50 sailboats to dodge.

There were other boats in the harbor enjoying a sail also.

Made it to our marina. Predominantly sailboats here.

Our boat at her new home for a year. We will cruise the Chesapeake Bay for the year while we wait for Canada to open up to Americans and then continue cruising the American Great Loop next year.

Rode our bikes into Annapolis this evening. Enjoyed the historical homes and seeing the Naval Academy Midshipmen in town with the Naval Academy two blocks away.

Very happy to have finished our first goal…cruising from Stuart, FL to Annapolis, MD. We took 26 days with 6 state crossings. FL, GA, SC, NC, VA and into MD.

Lots of heart stopping moments with bridge openings, dockings, locks, currents, tides, waves, winds, crab traps, shallow water… Met many wonderful boaters. Now it’s time to say farewell to the blog until we resume the loop. Thank you for following. So grateful in every way.

We just got back last month from a trip to Boston, Plymouth and Cape Cod Including a ferry from Hyannis to Nantucket Island.

    1. Thanks, Ron. It has been quite the adventure with currents, tides, shallow water, bridges, weather, but the historic coastal towns, friendly folks, helpful boating community are fantastic! I love history and this has been quite the new perspective on seeing our beautiful country by water.
