Moore Haven to Stuart, FL anchorage 70 mi Wed. Nov. 23, 2022

Left Moore Haven City Docks for a big day through 3 locks, 31 miles on Lake Okeechobee and several active railroad bridges. Foggy start!
Quiet along the canal after passing through the Moore Haven Lock.
Turned into Lake Okeechobee on our way ! Foggy so very little wind
Markers with a social gathering.
Looked a little stormy in the distance…but nothing developed.
Cruising along! So thankful for no wind. It can be bad on Lake Okeechobee, the 2nd largest lake in the USA , second to Lake Michigan. Six foot swells happen often.
Approached Port Mayacan Lock in bad fog and came out to sunshine and 80 degrees.
Unbelievable !
More swing bridges, lift bridges and just one more lock .
Beautiful homes along St. Lucie Canal.
Made it to our Stuart anchorage. We are 2 miles from crossing our wake at Harborage Marina in Stuart…on Thanksgiving Day!

  1. Congratulations!! You made it to Stuart and on Thanksgiving day! Truly a day to give thanks for your safe sailing!

Amazing the change from fog to sun through the lock.

    You’re Gold Loopers!! Yay!!

    1. Thank you! We appreciated your interest and enthusiasm along the way. Enjoy your gorgeous vessel. Next time we are close to Annapolis, we would love another one of your specialty cocktails of the night.

        1. We are going to be in Port 32, Ortega Landing Marina just beyond Jacksonville downtown. The St. John River promises a lot of beautiful scenery and great anchorages. Should be fun exploring.

          1. We know someone that had a slip there. They really enjoyed the spot. A charter captain we know up here has tried to encourage us to go all the up the river to Sanford, FL. The town is nice and you’re even just a short drive from Disney. It’s also where the Auto Train starts/ends. The other end is Lorton, just south of DC

          2. Fascinating that the auto train is right near the St. John River near Sanford. We are excited for a new adventure. Thanks, Corey for the information.
