Anchorage to Grand Harbor Marina – 77 miles, Pickwick Lock…10 hr day Posted on October 25, 2022October 25, 2022 by Blue Yonder Beautiful sunrise reflected on the trees from our anchorage morning. Enjoying coffee from the bow…with remote steering. Houses along the Tennessee River…someone’s castle… More examples of limestone cliffs. Passed the American Countess… A sad situation…house on shaky ground… Another house with more solid foundations… Pickwick Lock and Dam. Sometimes we wait 3- 4 hours typically to lock through. Sometimes we are “lucky” and don’t wait. Barge in opposite locking direction came into the lock area and blocked us from exiting. Hector, our lockmaster, who graciously locked us through before the barge, protected us and kept us in the lock until the barge was undercontrol and on the side. We were able to squeeze by and exit. The barge that had blocked our exit was pushing 3 x 6 barges of wood chips. Very large. Grand Harbor Marina… Mississippi now…
Awesome with the remote steering! Neat seeing more limestone cliffs and homes along the way, even a castle! Reply
