Ludington, Mich. To Lake Muskegon, Mich. – 54 miles – anchoring Mon. Aug. 22, 2022 Posted on August 23, 2022 by Blue Yonder Made our way southbound with sunny skies and following seas. 630 foot freighter leaving Ludington Harbor this morning 5 minutes before we left. Massive vessel. North Breakwater Light leaving Ludington. Sand dunes along the coastline. Houses, too. Some sand dune erosion happening… Michigan has natural lakes along the eastern side of Lake Michigan which provide wonderful safe haven anchorages as well as marinas, harbors, towns…This one we passed was White Lake. . We see our light and markers ahead for Lake Muskegon…another natural lake with a cut through channel. WWII highly decorated submarine, USS Silversides moored at the museum. Coast Guard Cutter also along the channel at the museum. The Lake Express is in the harbor servicing Wisconsin in 2 1/2 hours crossing Lake Michigan. Found a nice anchorage with other boats we knew along the way. Went to the beach nearby on our dingy. Later hosted a “Decktales” on the top deck of our boat….2 Canadian couples on the Loop and 2 American couples ..
