Enjoying our days here in midpoint Lake Michigan. Went for a 5 mile bike ride to White Pine Village – a recreated 1890’s lumber town.Rural area.Farmhouse Schoolhouse Lumber was plentiful in Michigan.Floating lumber down the rivers was dangerous work!Using sleighs for winter time moving of lumber.By train car, too – transportung lumber.General store of the lumber town. Games like checkers and Carroms were played in the evenings. We played Carroms as a teenager. who would believe the game is manufactured in Ludington, MI… We rode our bikes to the manufacturing plant.Bought a board from the manufacturer. Later that evening hosted a small get-together with friends we had met on a trip to Germany and their friends “Gold Loopers” – folks who had completed the Loop.

Great biking and exploring the historic town! So well preserved! Loved seeing the schedule on the school chalkboard with info about the recess, subjects taught, school hours, and the dresses. Neat about the Carroms board game!
