Halfway done with the American Great Loop!Calm winds this morning with only 2 hours to Mackinaw.Thought we were a moving target for ferry boats. At 8 mph we were paddling as fast as possible.Mackinaw Suspension Bridge. Second largest in North America. Lots of fun today visiting Mackinaw Island. We plan to stay a few more days in this historic area.

Wow. Halfway already. There is a heritage of coast guard cutters named after Mackinaw. They do ice breaking duty up there. Hope you are long gone before ice breaking time comes!
There is a museum on the American Fur Company …but it was sunny and warm… The furs were so profitable and John Jacob Astor was the merchant who made selling furs a huge business.

We really enjoyed visiting the Mackinaw Cutter. She was quite the workhorse and never got stuck. Amazing!
Phew, glad you weren’t run over! Lol
Great pics! Quaint town, like Disney!
Neat history! Were there fur shops?
