Apalachicola to Clearwater, FL- 183 miles overnight passage. Wed-Thurs. Nov. 16 &17, 2022 Posted on November 17, 2022 by Blue Yonder Navionics chart for route in the Gulf. No easy way to Clearwater, where the water is deep enough for boats and marinas. Started on a cloudy morning. A few fishing boats in Sikes’ Cut from Apalachicola Bay to the Gulf. This narrow gap was our entry point into the Gulf of Mexico. Only one barge and one other pleasure craft the whole time. We passed several Air Force radio towers in the Gulf of Mexico. The waves and winds started to build as the day progressed with small craft warnings and 4- 6 foot seas. We kept going all day and all night to Clearwater. We are getting close to completing our Loop journey to Stuart, Florida… earn the gold burgee…and then on to our new winter home port in Jacksonville. We made it in the morning. So thankful for a safe passage. Tourists having fun in Clearwater Marina. We are here for two nights to rest and enjoy Clearwater.
Congratulations on the incredible sailing!! Phew! Way to get that part over with! Clearwater looks like a fun place to relax, restore, and refresh for the last leg! Reply
