Alton Marina, St. Louis, IL. Oct 14, 2022 Posted on October 15, 2022October 16, 2022 by Blue Yonder Barge passing our lodge window Friday morning on Kentucky Lake. Another nice sunrise. Arrived back at Alton Marina after a 4 hour drive from the American Great Loop Cruising rendez-vousin in Paris Landing. We found the pool empty and floating. It has been winterized this way on purpose.. Notice the very high pilings that the floating docks can use as the water fluctuates and the levee grass wall in the background. This town has been flooded in the past and this is preventive measures. Nice evening here. Gathered together with other boaters for the next day’s strategy with two locks ahead. Found out a barge down river has gone aground….closed the Upper Mississippi River, blocked all traffic barges and pleasure craft….for now… Will find out more tomorrow morning. Coast Guard on it!
The pool is winterized now ready for cold weather. Town is ready for high water…but interestingly the water is very low. A barge went aground and has temporarily blocked the Upper Mississippi River. Reply
Oh wow!! Is the town ok? Odd about the empty pool, levee grass, and high pilings.

Wow, a lot of damage with the flooding! Hope you find out good news from the Coast Guard!
