Chicago to Joliet, IL – 39 miles – 7 hours – 2 Locks- 40 bridges Mon. Sept 19, 2022

Made it through our first day on the Rivers! Phew!
Amazing experience to take our own boat through downtown Chicago at 8 a.m. Monday and be the only boat!
First challenge of the day – the Chicago Harbor Lock
Chicago on our own.
Passed downtown Chicago and into more rural area.
This is “The Railroad Bridge” of 19.7′ a vessel HAS to clear to complete the Loop or turn around. No other way! The Atchison Topeka & Santa Fe Rail Road !
An Electric Fence to slow the spread of invasive fish species out of Lake Michigan. Operational 24/7.
Waited 3 hours for this massive barge complex to leave a lock…
Arrived in Joliet, IL where 11 other Looper boats are tied up to the city free wall 1 mile shy of the next busy lock. Time for Lock Tales.
